Tess Holliday Wants The World To Know That Fat People Have Sex

Tess Holliday Wants The World To Know That Fat People Have Sex

Fat people are often written off as non-sexual beings with no intimate life or exciting stories to tell. Tess Holliday - along with the rest of the fat community - is working to bust that myth, and in a recent post on Instagram, she wants everyone to know.

Holliday is currently gearing up for a worldwide book tour for her upcoming release, The Not So Subtle Art Of Being A Fat Girl

The Instagram post featured a sultry stripped-down polaroid of Holliday, taken by photographer Anastasia Garcia. The caption read:

'Shot some #polaroids with @anastasiagphoto in NYC last week. When I saw them, & how hot (& obviously unretouched) they are, I was reminded of a ‘Tess Holliday’s Advice for Life’ that are all throughout my book. It goes: ‘Fat people have sex. A lot of it. And it’s really fucking good.’ That’s all.'

Her sentiment was echoed by Garcia, who took to her own Instagram to write:

'Growing up I always felt like I wasn’t allowed to be sexy, or sexual. Despite the fact that I completely was, and completely loved that aspect of my life. I thought because I was fat I had to hide that aspect of myself. I realize now what a crock of s— that was. I’m pretty lucky to be around women who remind me that so many of us have a shared narrative. I’m also lucky to be surrounded by all this sexy.'

There are thousands of fat women who have felt this way at one time or another in their lives, and it's important for those who still hold those feelings to be told that they are worthy of embracing their sexuality, and that they shouldn't be shamed for wanting to be sexy, or for enjoying sex. Sex is one of the many stigmas surrounding people and it's great that someone with such a large platform like Tess Holliday is using it to set the record straight and rip apart society's misconceptions.
